A 4-ingredient Green Smoothie filled with spinach and omega 3s! Kid and mom-approved!!
A lot of people ask how I don’t stress over meals with my small children. A simple, but effective life hack is whipping up a healthy smoothie that meets the needs for my kids. It has to be tasty and smooth for the kids and full of nutritious ingredients and quick for mom. This 4-Ingredient Green Smoothie is 100% kid-approved (3 out of 3 over here anyways) and this mom-approved too!
Starting the day out with a spinach and omega-3 heavy smoothie means that if the rest of the day falls apart on the food front, I’m totally okay with it. Life is imperfect and with 3 kids (4 yr. old twins and a 2 yr. old), and never follows the course I set out each day. But that’s okay. I have a few life hacks so that if I can ensure one meal is beyond good nutritionally we can be more lenient with the others. Why stress when you don’t have to?
Generally speaking, we don’t get enough Vitamin D or omega-3’s from our daily diets. As much as I would like to proclaim that we do, we just don’t. We’re good about eating sustainable seafood 1-2 times per week, but it’s not enough to meet theneeds of 3 young, growing kids. I was over the moon that OmegaSea has the required 500 IU of vitamin D and 500 mg of EPA+DHA (omega-3s). Omega-3s and vitamin D? Sign me up. The lemon flavoured oil is PERFECT for this tropical vibes smoothie. And I’m not ashamed to say that I’m happy I am getting these added health nutrients as well.
I didn’t add any sweetener to this recipe. I personally don’t think there’s a need for honey or maple syrup, let alone sugar. My kids (one of whom is very picky and has a massive sweet tooth) LOVED this smoothie. To be honest, the pineapple and the lemon flavoured liquid omega and vitamin D supplement will cover the taste of any green ingredient. So if you’re out of spinach toss in kale, besides the colour there’s no indication this smoothie tastes like anything green.
Don’t think you can get your kids onboard with a green smoothie? This Mixed Berry Smoothie would be super tasty with OmegaSea‘s Lemony Lemon Lemony Lemon or OmegaSea’s Bubblegum Bonanza which is specially formulated for kids, to help promote brain, eyes and nerve development in children up to 12 years of age. This Healthy Chocolate Almond Banana Smoothie or this Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie look like they could be epically tasty with OmegaSea’s Choc-o-lotto.
