These delicious Broiled Shrimp with Garlic are simple, easy, and done in a mere 3 minutes. They’re the fasted way to getting a wholesome and tasty protein on the dinner table without compromising on flavour.
Winner, winner, shrimp dinner!! This is by far my favourite main protein that takes literally 3 minutes to cook. Basically the type of meal we all want to make on ALL busy weeknights.
It has a whooping 4 ingredients including salt and oil. Seriously you guys, it’s brilliant. And delicious. And fast. And all the things we want dinner to be when we’re ready to pull out our hair because we have to make dinner. Again.
While we’re a large seafood eating family, I know that’s not the case for everyone. It can be expensive and a bit stressful to cook with if it’s unfamiliar (you don’t want to waste the money overcooking halibut – I’ve been there and it’s frustrating). Here is a foolproof way to cook up seafood for maximum flavour and minimum kitchen distress.
I try to buy shrimp when it’s on sale (sustainable wild is my preference, and buy one get one free is my go to move as I buy lots and stash in the freezer) to ease the expense of it. It cuts the expense down for a family of 5 eating shrimp as our main protein for dinner.
Well, what I can put shrimp with? You might be asking right about now, since a bunch of shrimp doesn’t really cut it for dinner.
We usually have a big green salad, something like this kid-approved salad, and a starch of some kind like potatoes, couscous, rice or pasta. I’m a big fan of pairing this Broiled Shrimp recipe with a Spinach Pesto Pasta dish. I use this Spinach Pesto recipe and toss it with pasta for a one bowl meal – your kids will have no idea they’re eating an entire bag of spinach gleefully.
There’s an incredible amount of spinach in this pesto that you can feel all the leafy green feels and zero guilt on vegetable servings.
How exactly do you broil shrimp? Toss with oil, salt, and garlic, place on a pan, broil a few inches away from the burner in the oven for 3 minutes and ta-da! Perfectly cooked broiled shrimp.
How long to broil shrimp? 3 minutes has been my magic number. You need to double check that the shrimp is pink throughout and no longer raw. While ovens may vary, the 3 minute mark was perfect for me and my oven.
