Crispy seasoned potatoes that are perfect for game day! This quintessential Super Bowl recipe is seasoned, crispy, and fun.

Crispy Seasoned Football Potatoes

This post is in partnership and sponsored by The Little Potato Company as part of their Brand Ambassador Program. My Kitchen Love has been compensated monetarily and with product. We only support brands we love and cook with at home.

I adore a good lively recipe that is easy and yet, 100% yum! These Crispy Seasoned Potatoes are seriously one of the easiest seasoned potato recipes AND they’re huge football fans 😉

I’m of the opinion that Seasoned Potatoes need to have enough zest to be highly addictive and yet, are healthy. Here we have added a touch of football fun for the big game. It’s a bonus that these potatoes come together in under 30 minutes and use ingredients you probably already have in the pantry.

I served these Seasoned Potatoes with a big pot of chili for guests one night during the recipe testing phase. They made a great match! Top with chili or serve with wings and some veggies and dip and any Super Bowl party is set up and ready to go.

These little potatoes can be reheated with the sour cream on them at a low temperature in the oven. The sour cream does stiffen slightly and can turn golden brown if left too long in oven.

How long do you bake cut potatoes? A legit question you might be asking.

These seasoned potatoes are little potatoes that have been halved. A quick cut, toss in some basic seasoning (that you most likely have in the cupboard), a shorter bake, and some sour cream piped onto the potato halves to give these charming potatoes all the football feels that make them a great Super Bowl or Grey Cup recipe.

Cut little potatoes usually take 20 minutes in the oven at 400-425° F. Larger pieces will take longer.

What should I make for a Super Bowl Party?

I’m of the opinion that taste shouldn’t be sacrificed for using nutrient dense and easy to prepare ingredients. Enter my favourite game day recipes that uses wholesome ingredients:

  • Chili Lime Chicken Wings
  • Slow Cooker Korean Pulled Pork Sliders
  • Turkey Chipotle Chili
  • Buffalo Chicken Smashed Potatoes

Why use Creamer potatoes from The Little Potato Company? They’re a personal favourite as we all know, and for good reason as they are a delight to work with. These little potatoes come washed (saving me time), with a delicate nutrient-dense skin that is delicious (no peeling required!), and they’re all the same size so I know I can halve them and they will cook consistently.

I’m also keen to entertain with side dishes that are easy and convenient for Super Bowl. Easy to prep potatoes that are fun and addicting are my go-to so I can sit back and enjoy watching the game (or at least be chatting with family and friends while enjoying the spread if I’ve been perfectly honest).

Crispy seasoned potatoes that are perfect for game day!

Course: Side Dish
Cuisine: American

Servings: 6 servings

Ingredients
  • 1.5 lbs Blushing Belle Creamer potatoes*, halved
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 2-4 tbsp sour cream or thick Greek yogurt
  • 2 medium green onions, thinly sliced
US Customary – Metric
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 425° F.

  2. Toss halved potatoes with olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.

  3. Spread potatoes, cut side down, in an even layer on a baking sheet with a touch of space between the potatoes**. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven allow to cool slightly.

  4. Add sour cream to a pipping bag or a freezer plastic bag with a small corner cut off. Pipe football "laces" onto the rounded top of potato halves. Sprinkle green onion over top (or underneath to look like grass).

Recipe Notes

* I used Blushing Belle Creamer potatoes from The Little Potato Company for their red skinned colour (matches that of a football), however, any varietal of little potato will work in this recipe.

** if the potatoes are too close together they won’t get super crispy as they will steam each other during the roasting process, even a few centimetres between the potatoes will allow them to crisp up.
