Got candy? I’m pretty sure we’re all about to have a lot of it starting tomorrow. Here’s my game plan for leftover candy or candy we want to take out of our kids hands:

A one pan quick and easy skillet candy bar cookie. This way I can portion out the sugar much more easily than yelling “no more junk food!” on repeat.

This “cookie” was soft, chewy, and disappeared very quickly (my kids were obsessed, the adults inhaled it); all the ways we want cookies to be.

The texture and flavours combined make it a win in the cookie department I suspect I’ll adapt this recipe more in the future given its ease and lack of dishes that I need to do.

One pan! No bowls needed for the easy skillet cookie recipe. All ingredients are mixed directly in the pan making a breeze to whip up.

Use any halloween (small size) candy bars that you’d like. I ended up using a mix of the candy we are handing out this year.

I used M&M’s (regular and peanut), Oh Henry!, and Reese Peanut Butter Cups. Want to go the traditional route? Use the dependable chocolate chips.

Toffee chips would be delicious in this as well. Any way you slice this giant cookie is a must try.

If we’re completely overrun with treats that we just won’t get to, I’ll often repurpose the candy in this sort of fashion.

We’re still making our way through Easter chocolate that has been stashed in our freezer (perfect for cookies or another baking treats).

Ingredients
  • 10 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4-1 cup chopped candy bars, about 8-12 small candy packages OR chocolate chips
US Customary – Metric
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.

  2. Melt butter in a 10″ (oven-proof) skillet over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in both sugars and vanilla. Allow to cool for 5 minutes (cooling is essential so it doesn’t scramble the egg and melt the chocolate bars too much).

  3. Stir in egg. Add flour, baking soda, and salt, and stir until combined. Quickly stir in candy bar and press down into a somewhat even level.

  4. Place in oven and bake for 20-22 minutes.

  5. Carefully remove and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes. Cut into wedges and serve (with ice cream if desired).

Um, this looks amazing! Cookies are the best anyway but they can only get better if they’re stuffed with halloween candy and gigantic too, right?!

100% kiddos adored them – possibly more than the Halloween candy!
