Easy, one bowl Halloween Monster Cookies! A fun and quick Halloween cookies recipe to get into the festivities.
One bowl, quick and easy Halloween baking to get the spooky festivities on.
This recipe comes together so fast and easily that I might just be making the cookies year round now.
And how fun are these Halloween Cookies? My kids adore the candy eyeballs which are perfect for this time of year.
The candy eyeballs have been sitting in my pantry for a long time and every time one of my twins went into the pantry, that’s all I would hear about … and how I had to make something with them.
I finally caved and made these cookies to get out of the nagging from my kids and for a fun afternoon activity with my youngest while the other two were at kindergarten.
I don’t feel incredibly prepared for Halloween this year, I don’t really know why. Maybe because I’ve vowed to not buy any candy until closer to the date, primarily so I don’t end up eating it all (the struggle is real for me).
Anyone else avoiding the mini candy bars until the last minute? Maybe they’ll be on sale by the time I get to buying them.
All the kids have the costumes (Costco for the win). It’s going to be fairly hilarious as all 3 of my kids are going to be Dash from The Incredibles.
Although I won’t be able to tell who’s who since they all are basically the same height! And one of neighbours is going to be Dash as well … maybe if I get them all in a line it truly will look like Dash can run super fast.

Easy, one bowl Chocolaty Halloween Monster Cookies! A fun and quick Halloween baking recipe.
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp black cocoa* (or sub with regular cocoa)
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 large eggs
- 12 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cups Halloween candy**
- 40 mini candy eyeballs
-
Preheat oven to 375° F and line 2-3 baking sheets with non-stick paper.
-
In a large bowl stir together together flour, baking powder, brown sugar, black cocoa, cocoa, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Once batter is mostly mixed add Halloween candy (reserving the candy eyeballs).
-
Place batter in scoops onto baking trays. I used a small ice cream scoop to ensure they were the same size, it’s about 3 level tablespoons.
-
Bake for 10-12. Once removed from oven, carefully apply the candy eyeballs to the hot cookies (so they set into them).
-
Allow to cool on baking sheets for 10-15 minutes before fully cooling on a rack.
* black cocoa powder gives these Halloween cookies a darker shade a little bit more of an intense chocolate flavour. It is by no means necessary and can easily be substituted with regular cocoa powder.
** I used Smarties (a Canadian candy brand) and the single coloured Smarties for this recipe. I would use whatever you might have on hand that works well.
This recipe was adapted from Ricardo’s Double Chocolate Cookies Mix in a Jar.
Enjoy! xo
Great tip to get the dark cocoa powder. These were rich and chocolatey and also I liked how that color contrasted with the candy. Making another batch for our neighborhood halloween party.
Yay! I like the dark chocolate addition too, makes it a little more festive as well as chocolatey. Hope you guys have a great Halloween celebration!
