Easy to make and perfectly delicious Blackberry Mojito! Whip up a glass or a pitcher to share with this yummy twist on a classic mojito recipe.

Blackberry Mojitos!! Why did I have to go all fruity on you and add blackberries to a perfectly acceptable cocktail? Well my friends, blackberries and lime go together incredibly well (as some of you might remember from the these Blackberry Lime Cupcakes).

Back to the mojitos however. This summery cocktail is a part of another #FBCConnectingOverCocktails. Thanks to everyone in the group who participated with some killer summer sips. I can’t wait to check out everyone’s posts.

How to make an easy mojito recipe:

Get a glass ready! No need to dirty more dishes than necessary. In the glass place mint, lime, and sugar. “Muddle” until sugar has dissolved and mint has soften.

The aroma from the glass should be minty and delicious. Simply top the muddled ingredients with white rum, club soda and lots of ice.

Mojito are very adaptable. Don’t like blackberries? Skip them all together for a classic lime and mint focused mojito or what any berry or fruit that works with lime and mint.

Some of my favourites are blackberry (obviously), blueberry, strawberry, watermelon, peach, pomegranate, mango, etc. There are a lot of opportunities to personalize this easy cocktail.

More (seriously dreamy) summer cocktails:

  • Japanese Lilac Gin Lemonade from Justine Celina
  • Cooling Cucumber Mint Fizz from Killing Thyme
  • Strawberry Lemonade Rose Punch from Cooking in my Genes
  • Ume Highball from Diversivore

How to make the best mojito recipe:

  1. A white rum you enjoy. If the base isn’t there the rest just ain’t gonna happen.
  2. Fresh lime juice (and lots of it so the drink doesn’t become too sweet).
  3. Granulated sugar to balance all the acid.
  4. Club soda … add those bubbles!
  5. A “muddler”. This could be an actual muddler for cocktails or simply a wooden spoon that use to mash up the sugar with mint.
  6. Ice. What’s a refreshing cocktail without being ice cold?! Pile it up!

I absolutely love the addition of blackberries to the classic mojito! I need to muddle more. Honestly, I did it once, and because I usually sip my drinks with a straw, I kept getting chunks of berry stuck in my straw and I was convinced I’d done it all wrong and started to just rage. Haha. Note to self: ditch the g-damn straw.

Straws and mojitos just don’t get along. BUT, you and mojitos should. I agree, ditch the straw – plus it’s better for the environment 😉

I love the ease and freshness of this summery mojito, Sam! I went through a major mojito phase just before I started blogging but haven’t really revisited lately. This recipe has definitely reignited my interest — I’ll absolutely be whipping up a blackberry mojito after my farmer’s market run this weekend! Cheers to another fun collab!

I’m sitting here sweating like nobody’s business and desperately wishing I could tuck into one or two of these right now. Gorgeous, summery, and full of fruit – sounds just about perfect right now. I have to agree with you re: lime and blackberry – they go together very well! It’s been great collaborating on another Connecting Over Cocktails project with you. Cheers!

Not a comment, but a question… recipe notes this “serves 1”, but instructions tell me to “divide” the first 5 ingredients into 2 glasses… then top with club soda. So does this actually make two cocktails? And I’m adding 1/2c club soda to each?
    Please clarify.

Yes! it’s about 1.5 ounces of rum per glasses.
